Ashton Heights Whole House Renovation
Former Herndon residents wanted to downsize and move to Arlington for its convenience to restaurants, culture and museums. Their home search led them to a 1925 two-bedroom bungalow in the walkable community of Ashton Heights.
After interviewing several firms, the owners decided to work with WINN Design + Build for the home’s major renovations because of WINN’s technical expertise, creative design and craftsmanship.
The main remodeling goals included retaining and reintroducing historic architectural elements while adding 21st Century finishes and fixtures, including salvaging heart pine flooring and adding new heart pine where needed. The owners also wanted a detached garage with electric car charger.
The whole house renovation included three bathroom remodels and moving the original kitchen to the other side of the main floor, turning the old kitchen location into the new laundry/mudroom. On the exterior, a new roof, siding and rear deck were added with the front porch getting an update.
This house was a featured property on the Tuckahoe Elementary Home & Garden Tour in 2018.
